Full Mouth Rehabilitation

Your mouth and your teeth perform several essential functions every day. Your teeth enable you to eat, allowing you to bite and chew your food. They control the flow of air when you speak, which helps you to form different words and sounds. They are also crucial for providing you with a beautiful, confident smile. While oral care helps to keep your mouth healthy, there are several factors that can affect its health, functions, and aesthetics. At Prosthodontic Dental Group, we can restore your mouth with full mouth rehabilitation.

What is full mouth rehabilitation?

Full mouth rehabilitation is a dental procedure that is performed to rebuild and restore your mouth. While it is similar to a smile makeover, full mouth rehabilitation focuses on the health of your mouth, not just its appearance. It is a highly customizable treatment, enabling us to meet a variety of different needs. Procedures range from fixing minor imperfections in your teeth to complete tooth replacement. In some more serious cases, oral surgery may also be required.

Customized Treatment

Full mouth rehabilitation is highly customizable. There are a variety of different treatments that can be customized to meet your specific needs. Treatments may include such things as:
•  Teeth whitening.
•  Fillings.
•  Inlays and onlays.
•  Dental bonding.
•  Veneers.
•  Dental crowns.
•  Bridges.
•  Dental implants.
•  Periodontal treatment.
•  Gum recontouring.
•  Gum grafting.
•  Root canal therapy.

The exact procedures we use for your full mouth rehabilitation will depend on your exact situation. Even if you need to have a significant amount of work done, it can take as little as 2 to 3 days to complete your treatment. Healing times vary depending upon your treatments. In some cases, there may be no downtime, but in the instance of tooth extractions, dental implants, or surgical procedures, healing can take a few weeks to a few months. When treatment is over, your mouth will be healthier and your smile beautiful.

Are you a candidate?

To determine your needs, and therefore the best course of action for your full mouth rehabilitation, we must first conduct a comprehensive oral exam. Your exam consists of:
•  Looking at the overall appearance of your mouth. We will check the overall appearance of your mouth. We will take note of any teeth that are discolored, misshapen, or missing. We will also check for any alignment issues with your teeth and jaw.
•  Looking at the condition of your teeth. Along with appearance, we will also check the health of your teeth as well. This includes checking for signs of damage such as chips, cracks, and decay. By noting these issues, and their severity, we can determine the best restorative options.
•  Looking at the condition of your gums. We will inspect your gums, checking for signs of gum disease, gum recession, and any other oddities.
•  Looking at the condition of your jaw. We will also take x-rays of your mouth. Not only will this enable us to see the condition of your teeth below the gum line, but we can also evaluate the condition of your jaw. We can check for fractures, alignment issues, bone loss, and more.

If your mouth is affected by several different issues, a full mouth rehabilitation may be right for you. For more information, and to schedule your consultation, contact Prosthodontic Dental Group today.
