Fix Missing Teeth

Whether you are missing one tooth or many teeth, you may be wondering what the best option is for you. At Prosthodontic Dental Group, we believe dental implants are the ideal choice to replace missing teeth, and we think you will too!

Reasons to Choose Dental Implants

Dental implants are tiny titanium posts that are surgically implanted into your jaw. After a relatively short healing period, the implants are attached to a prosthetic restoration. Reasons to choose dental implants include:
•  Discretion. Implants will look and feel like your natural teeth.
•  Comfort. Implants give you the ability to enjoy the foods you love and speak with confidence.
•  Health. Implants do not affect surrounding teeth and preserve bone structure.

Dental Implants Vs. Dentures

Today, more and more patients are choosing dental implants over traditional dentures. In fact, we find that patients who initially chose dentures, eventually make the switch to implants with positive results.

Our specialists offer dentures and dental implant restorations. Both treatments are a viable option to replace missing teeth; however, dental implants have a variety of advantages that can drastically change your life. Below is a comprehensive overview of dental implants and dentures.

Dental Implants

•  Preservation. Dental implants fuse to the bone in your jaw through a process known as osseointegration. This allows for unparalleled support and provides the physical stimulation your jawbone needs to avoid deterioration.
•  Durability. The bond between the implant and your jaw allows you to chew with the strongest bite force. Under the proper care and maintenance, implants can last for decades, or even a lifetime.
•  Easy maintenance. Implants can be treated like your natural teeth. You can brush and floss without the use of specialized equipment.
•  Comfortable. Implants become a part of your mouth. They fit comfortably without slipping or putting pressure on your gums. There is also no need for creams of adhesives.
•  Multiple uses. Implants can be used to replace one tooth or an entire arch of missing teeth. A single implant can keep surrounding teeth in their proper position without causing future complications.

Dentures

•  Removable. Acclimating to dentures can be a challenge because they are insecure. You may have difficulty chewing and talking. Sometimes they fall out, which can lead to awkward or embarrassing moments.
•  Bone loss. Dentures do not provide the physical stimulation your jaw needs to stay healthy. Eventually, the bone will undergo resorption and deteriorate.
•  Adjustments and replacements. Ordinary wear and tear require multiple adjustments and repairs. Dentures are replaced every five to seven years. This can get quite costly.
•  Maintenance. Dentures must be removed and cleaned every night. Many patients need to use adhesives to keep their dentures in place. Maintaining healthy gums becomes a significant issue if bacterial infection occurs.
•  Uncomfortable. Dentures are bulky and rest on your gums. This can cause discomfort when chewing and speaking.
•  Uses. Dentures are not an ideal option for patients missing one tooth. Partial dentures do exist but may lead to tooth decay of surrounding teeth. They also attach to metal clasps that are often visible and indiscrete.
